If you are newly dia
gnosed with high blood pressure (Hypertension), you may be wondering whether they should stop drinking coffee.
Here is your answer:
In a recent study, researchers studied if there is any correlation between coffee consumption and occurrence of high blood pressure. The authors looked in several databases and identified 6 studies with a total of 172,567 participants, of whom 37,135 had a new diagnosis of hypertension during follow-up. All of the studies took into consideration other possible factors such as age, body mass index, smoking, and alcohol use. The researchers found little association between high blood pressure and coffee consumption.
Bottom Line: Coffee consumption has little if any impact on the incidence of hypertension.
